You can’t be from Surrey and not appreciate what the South Asian community brings to our city. The fabric of our city is stronger, more entertaining, more colourful, better tasting, and more entrepreneurial because of our South Asian residents. Together, we’re writing the Surrey story, and the contributions of our South Asian community are definitely there for all to see.
I did not always want this job. But I am glad to be doing it now. As for challenges, politics is about finding the right balance. Our government is working hard to create affordable housing, to protect healthcare, to foster safer streets by addressing the root causes of crime and poverty.
Surrey’s South Asian community is an integral part of the fabric of Surrey and I invite all to be a part of this pivotal moment in time. Great things are set for this city and every Surrey resident can play a role in shaping our city. As we go forward, there will be a City Council that is transparent, accountable, and ethical to serve all our residents.
